Architectural Historian
Professional Opportunity

EBI is seeking to hire a full-time Architectural Historian in the NY Metro area to prepare Section 106 and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reports. This is a remote position and will be based out of your home office.  Strong technical report writing skills and ability to conduct intensive archival and technical research is a must.  Prior working experience in Section 106 regulatory process and direct experience in preparing Section 106 compliance documents is preferred, but not required.  Applicants should be able to effectively communicate with EBIs employees and clients and work as part of a team.  The position typically involves approximately 50% field time and 50% home office time.
Strong candidates will possess excellent report writing skills, computer and internet skills, excellent communication, time management and organizational skills. This position will require you to simultaneously manage electronic deliverables on many ongoing projects, as well as to complete assignments on-time and within budget. At times, travel on short notice (one week or less) will be required. This position will require travel throughout New York, New England, as well as travel to other areas of the United States as needed based on workload. All related travel expenses are reimbursed.



Education and Experience Required: 


  • M.A. in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Art History, History or other directly related field required.

  • Minimum of two years of related non-academic work experience preferred.

  • Experience with National Register of Historic Places surveys and nominations, and National Environmental Policy Act assessments preferred.


Registration Requirements: 

  • Candidates must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural Historian.
