The City of Denver's Community Planning & Development Department (CPD) is recruiting for a Development and Planning Supervisor (Zoning Administration). This position will be responsible for the supervision of the Zoning Administration team within CPD's Development Services Division.  The team consists of professional and technical staff that support multi-disciplinary review and approval of development projects requiring zoning review.  The position is responsible for drafting and implementing a comprehensive zoning administration work program, including substantial focus on process innovations, continuing education and new employee training, and zoning code interpretations and determinations for the public and staff.  The position will be the ongoing liaison with the City's Zoning Administrator, the Director of Development Services, various zoning permitting teams, and Planning Services zoning map & text amendment teams.  

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Experience that demonstrates a multi-disciplinary approach to community and land use planning and development. 
  • Project management skills and experience, particularly with complex regulatory or process improvement projects. 
  • Working knowledge of zoning regulations, especially form-based, as demonstrated by work on zoning code text amendments, map amendments, or site plan reviews. 
  • Five to eight years of professional level experience in community, city, regional, or transportation/infrastructure planning, development review, zoning or housing and neighborhood revitalization. 
  • Experience conceptualizing, writing, and implementing zoning/land use codes.

  • Bachelor Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Public Administration, or a related degree.
  • Three years of professional level experience in community, city, regional, or transportation/infrastructure planning, development review, or housing and neighborhood revitalization.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license at the time of application.
Education/Experience Equivalency:  A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
