Hobart Historic Restoration is seeking a preservation architect to join our growing firm based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our award winning-practice centers on both historic rehabilitation and new construction, prioritizing market-rate housing and mixed-use developments. The properties and communities that we invest in range from larger urban centers to small, rural communities; from historic hotels to churches. Our firm has won numerous local and state awards for our preservation work. The company studio is structured to offer the collaborative environment of a small firm, with the option to perform in a self-driven manner with professional advancement.


Candidates should have strong knowledge of the Secretary of Interior Standards for Rehabilitation, building materials and conservation/preservation techniques, construction technology, experience with construction administration and be able to work in AutoCAD, SketchUp and other rendering software (Revit, etc). Candidates should have three plus years of work experience, including licensure in the State of Iowa. Applicants must have strong verbal and graphic communication skills with the enthusiasm and ideas to contribute to improving the design dialogue.
