Details
 

Basic Function

Responsible for performing hands-on restoration practices in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
 

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently perform restoration practices: scraping, sanding, repairs, milling, assembling, steaming, heating, glass measuring, glass cutting, use of abatron, 2p-10, and other materials, uninstallation, reinstallation of features, packing, set-up, clean-up on-site or in shop.
Safely operate machinery including but not limited to: table saw, planer, joiner, router, electric sander
Travel to and from work sites

Education and Training

Degree: Bachelors Degree in relevant field. Equivalent experience accepted.


Experience

Prior experience with hand or power tools extremely helpful.
Knowledge of and experience milling and assembling cypress window sashes and window accessories (sills, aprons, jambs) preferred.
Knowledge of New Orleans architecture preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with historic preservation and restoration practices - specifically with architectural features such as windows, doors, shutters, floors preferred.


Earnings:
Salary is hourly based and commensurate with experience. 


Requirements

Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
Able to operate machinery including electric sanders, table saw, chop/miter saw, planer, jointer, steambox, router, drill, impact driver,
Able to take responsibility for personal safety
Able to properly dispose of items
Able to use hand tools including scrapers, glass cutting tools, glazing tools, 5 in 1s, putty knives, etc..
