Historic New England is looking for a dynamic mid-career preservation professional who wants to be a part of a non-profit that has long been a leader in establishing preservation philosophy, standards and methods. Join the team, be a steward of the philosophy as it is applied to the preservation and maintenance of the historic house museums, and help develop new standards for the care of the properties. The supervising preservation manager is a new staff position responsible for overseeing preservation, maintenance, and capital improvements for 16 historic properties including the 17th century Arnold House, 18th century Lyman and Codman Estates, 19th century Eustis Estate and Roseland Cottage, and the 20th century Gropius House.You will be directly responsible for the care of certain properties as well as supervising the work of another preservation manager within the Boston and South region. The senior preservation manager is responsible for coordinating work both within property care and with other teams within Historic New England, which includes working closely with landscape and carpentry crew staff, collections staff, historic site managers who manage day-to-day operation of the properties, and the development office in the raising of funds for the work.

If you have the equivalent of a masters degree in historic preservation and at least six years of job-related experience then you have the background we are looking for. If you have high level administrative skills, attention to detail, problem solving skills and can operate efficiently by yourself and as part of a team then you have the skills to be successful. If you have email, word processing and basic spreadsheet capabilities and feel comfortable with computers then you can master the technology required for this position.The position does require a valid drivers license and means of transportation as well as periodic response to alarm call and emergencies.Historic New England offers a competitive benefits and retirement package as part of employment.
