Logan Simpson, a growing environmental planning and design firm, with unique and exciting projects, currently seeks a full-time Historic Preservation Specialist to be based out of our Tempe, Tucson, or Flagstaff Arizona offices.




Duties and responsibilities include conducting and assisting with historic preservation and other cultural resources fieldwork, research, and assisting with report and other document production, such as preparation of Arizona Historic Property Inventory Forms. Candidates should have demonstrable experience in conducting archival research, building and cultural landscape inventories (CLIs), and reporting. Experience with preparing National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nominations, conducting Historic American Building Survey and Historic American Engineering Record documentation, and National Historic Trails inventories is a plus. This position requires the individual to work well in a team-oriented setting, and have the ability to travel for fieldwork on a regular basis.




Requirements include:


  • Bachelors or Masters degree in History, Architectural History, Art History, Anthropology, or closely related field;

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • 1+ year of Southwestern historic preservation consulting or agency experience;

  • Preparation of a successful NRHP nomination resulting in a listing and completion of a CLI is preferred but not required.
