Duties and Position. AFHA hires Employee in the capacity of Program Associate.
Primary duties for the Employee will be to support the administration of the AFHA AmeriCorps Program.
Program Associate will assist Program Directors with:
ˇ Maintaining communication with AmeriCorps program sites including site visits at least once a year and up to 3 times a year to each site, to assess performance and resolve any issues.
ˇ Reviewing member reports, and utilizing that data, preparing program progress reports and performance measure reports.
ˇ Collecting, and updating all member records in hard files, OnCorps and eGrants system.
ˇ Recruiting and interviewing new members
ˇ Planning and conducting trainings and team meetings
ˇ Overseeing member and site performance, including participating in some member-planned events, and helping to resolve issues and conflicts.
ˇ Team building, calendar, scheduling, service projects, and member adjustment
ˇ Communicating with state Program Officers and attending periodic Program Director meetings
ˇ Review of member time sheets as assigned.
ˇ Other related duties as assigned
ˇ Direct communications with members and stakeholders, print & e-newsletters, facebook, etc.
Hands on Team Supervision
Hands-on Team Supervision duties include:
ˇ Scheduling the Hands on Team activities/duties,
ˇ Making and maintaining contact with HoT supervisors and sites,
ˇ Member supervision and approving timesheets
ˇ Other similar responsibilities as assigned
Depending on time and funding available, Program Associate may also provide assistance with AFHA general organization activities this may include working with AFHA assigned AmeriCorps member, staff, and board as appropriate. These duties will be secondary to primary duties listed above.
ˇ Assist with operations of and improvements to AFHA Appalachian Forest Discovery Center at the Darden Mill, including development of visitor center and gift shop functions. Will include some days keeping the facility open for visitors, which will not be required to exceed two days a month.
ˇ Assist with planning and implementing annual stakeholder meeting and summer volunteer recognition event
ˇ Assist with membership and development efforts, including grant-writing and mailings
ˇ Assist with advocacy efforts for National Heritage Area designation
ˇ Assist with other AFHA projects as assigned
