GBG is an international leader in the use of Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) for the forensic investigation of structures. With over 30 years of experience and cutting edge survey tools including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Infrared Thermography, Ultrasonic and Acoustic Methods, we provide information on structural arrangement and condition using non-invasive methods, with a wide range of deliverables. We also specialize in Measured Building Survey (MBS), delivering 2D conventional As-Built data and 3D, CAD, BIM and FE models. GBG investigates a wide range of structures from historically important buildings to small private residences; all of which require expert appraisal and attention to detail when assessing their construction and condition. Exciting entry-level opportunity with GB Geotechnics USA Inc. - an International Structural Investigation / Non Destructive Evaluation [NDE] and Measured Building Survey [MBS] firm, recruiting for a trainee Investigation Engineer.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop his / her skills in order to become an Investigation Engineer, capable of understanding, collecting, analyzing and reporting on data from a variety of building assessment projects. It is expected that the training period will last for approximately 6 months but will be dependent on the trainees ability to handle new challenges and responsibilities.
The position is intended to provide technician level support in a team environment both on site and in the Manhattan office for a combined minimum of 37.5 hours a week. Although regular office hours are 09:00 to 17:30, Mon thru Fri, there is often a requirement for flexibility and frequent overnight / weekend work opportunities.

The successful candidate will be versatile with an aptitude for problem solving and combining a range of duties including [but not limited to] the following:

  • Manual site work & data collection
  • Office-based data analysis, handling, processing and report writing
  • In-house training - NDE equipment and processes
  • Office administration - form filling, project planning, meetings, phone calls

Projects are primarily based within New York City and the tri-state area, but may require occasional travel throughout the USA, potentially including GBGs LA office. Site work may include extended working hours, weekends and overnight sessions for which time is remunerated.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy is essential. Up to 2 years training or experience in at least one of the following fields is preferred but not required.

Candidates must hold a valid Passport, US Drivers License and be eligible to work in the USA.
