Lochmueller Group is current seeking a Historian Section 106 to work in the Indianapolis, IN region.

The Historian will be responsible for preparing Section 106 documentation, field studies, and coordinating with clients, agencies and the public.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing historic property reports, 800.11 documents, Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs) and other duties for the purpose of Section 106 consultation on a variety of project types.
  • Working with Project Managers to determine the appropriate finding of effect as well as to develop measures to avoid and minimize/mitigate effects.
  • Completes research of the history of project areas in order to formulate a context for inclusion in appropriate Section 106 documentation.
  • Prepares environmental overview and planning reports
  • Lead and conduct field studies for above ground historic resources
  • Organize and lead consulting party meetings
  • Conduct GIS analysis and prepare mapping
  • Assist with development of documentation to comply with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 4(f) evaluations as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • Working knowledge and application of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act is required
  • Familiarity with the Indiana Department of Transportations Cultural Resource Manual, Indiana Historic Bridge Inventory, and the Historic Bridge Project Development Process is desired
  • Meet the requirements of a Qualified Professional as defined by the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Qualification Standards
  • Willingness to learn applicable environmental regulations
  • Valid drivers license
