Point Reyes National Seashore manages approximately 90,000 acres of diverse natural and cultural resources visited by over 2.5 million people annually. Approximately 30,000 acres are historic cattle and dairy ranches operating under permit. The Seashore manages over 350 structures ranging from national historic landmarks to regionally significant ranch buildings.

 This intern position is within the Division of Integrated Resource Management at Point Reyes National Seashore, in Marin County California. The incumbent will work with the Seashore's Historic Preservation Team under the supervision of the Exhibit Specialist. The work consists of shop, and fieldwork on structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The position is geared toward hands-on treatment of historic structures and preservation practices as they apply to the carpentry and millwork trades, and will involve working with park preservation team on this years projects. This year's major project will include window restoration work at the following locations within the park. The historic Lifeboat Station along with the RCA Recieving and Transmitting Stations. Intern will develop hands-on techniques in historic fabric repair and conservation on structures ranging from rustic barns, Victorian era main houses, and a National Historic Landmark Lifeboat Station. Projects may require working on historic roofs at heights. The intern will be employed through the Point Reyes National Seashore Association and report to an Association employee. The intern will receive technical on site supervision from the Historic Preservation Crew. The internships are for twelve weeks, 40 hours per week, at Point Reyes National Seashore. Pay is twelve dollars per hour and housing is provided. Exact starting dates will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
