Building Conservation Associates, Inc. (BCA)is seeking a licensed Restoration Architect to join our team for a 12-month period beginning in January 2018, with a possibility of an extension to be determined at a later date.
The Restoration Architect will be primarily focused on a current BCA project involving the condition assessment of multiple historic buildings located throughout the United States. The Architect may also be involved with other materials conservation, restoration and preservation planning projects being undertaken by BCA.
The ability to identify historic architectural materials and construction systems, as well as conditions related to both, is essential and prior experience should highlight such expertise. A general interest in historic building materials, restoration repair design, architectural history and preservation planning is also very desirable. In addition, because the buildings are located throughout the country, travel on a regular basis over the course of the year is mandatory.
The conditions assessment project that will be the primary responsibility of the Restoration Architect has an anticipated 12-month duration. However, there is potential for the position to be longer-term.
Candidates applying for this position should have a degree in architecture and/or be a Registered Architect (license in any U.S. state acceptable). A graduate degree in historic preservation is also highly desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of related restoration architecture experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe InDesign is required.
