Position Description

Program Coordinator

The Mississippi Heritage Trust, a non-profit organization based in Jackson, is seeking a Program Coordinator to undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks related to the Preservation Toolkit Program. The Program Coordinator will help to plan and execute a series of workshops in the Delta and on the Gulf Coast to educate the general public about historic preservation and real estate development concepts. The position is a full-time, temporary position and is partially funded through grant funds from the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area and the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area.

Responsibilities include:

Developing workshop materials

Scheduling logistics for workshop venues

Coordinating logistics for tours of successful rehabilitation projects

Managing marketing and communications through media relations and social media

Teaching fundamental concepts of historic preservation and real estate development

Identifying and coordinating guest lecturers and workshop participants

Ensuring technology is used correctly for all programs

Other duties as related to the mission of the Mississippi Heritage Trust to save and renew places meaningful to Mississippians and their history.

Requirements for position include:

Proven experience as a program coordinator or relevant position

Knowledge of program management and development procedures

Ability to understand and convey historic preservation and real estate development concepts

Ability to manage event logistics

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

Proficiency with social media

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Detail-oriented

Comfortable working with diverse teams

Comfortable working with minimal supervision

A minimum of a bachelors degree in a field related to the subject matter of the Preservation Toolkit Program, including historic preservation, history, urban planning, architecture or finance
