Work where history is alive and exciting to share with others! The Nebraska History Museum, administered by the Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS), is seeking passionate candidates to serve as Museum Education Associate.
Help organize, manage, and provide educational programs and tours at the museum and historic sites including hands-on experiences, lecture series, events and more. The right candidate will manage coordination and distribution of educational materials, help curators develop and implement educational and public programs, manage group learning experiences, coordinate with other staff to complete projects, and assist in training of staff and docents.
We seek an energetic and innovative individual who can communicate effectively, research and answer questions from the public and other historical organizations, lead group tours for all ages, who has a creative eye to assess effective exhibit design and interpretation and a strong understanding of Nebraska history.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelorís degree in history or related field such as education, museum studies, public history or anthropology. Two years experience working at a museum creating educational programs or providing interpretive tours required.
The Nebraska State Historical Society is a statewide educational organization that connects people to the past through the Nebraska History Museum, library and research center, conservation facility, seven historic sites, and the state archeology and historic preservation offices. The NSHS preserves and interprets our stateís history to educate citizens and build a better future for all Nebraskans.
This full-time non-exempt position pays $19.76/hour plus regular state of Nebraska health benefits, vacation, sick leave, and retirement plan. Some travel may be required.
