TDOT Environmental Division is seeking a Manager to join our Historic Preservation Section in the Environmental Analysis Office.
This position ensures TDOTs statutory obligations are fulfilled by providing central office oversight, technical expertise and managerial support to historic preservation specialists who carry out the daily operations of the Historic Preservation program across the state.
As this will be a position that will be training internal staff as well as external customers, the ideal candidate should have strong verbal and written skills. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensuring that TDOT is in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and Section 4(f) of the U.S. DOT Act by reviewing and writing documents that are technically sound and meet the standards of both TDOT and the Tennessee State Historic Preservation Office (TN-SHPO).
Ensuring coordination with TDOTs other divisions including Design, Right-of-Way, Construction and external stake holders. External stakeholders including, but not limited to, TN-SHPO, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
Conducting statewide field work for assigned projects in a professional manner that utilizes the most up-to-date methodologies to ensure resources are accurately identified.
Remaining current on all federal and state regulations that pertains the historic preservation and linear transportation projects.
Managing historic preservation consultants, creating scopes of work, reviewing and/or approving invoices.
Providing leadership, guidance, and coaching to professional historic preservation staff regarding their performance of job duties.
