State Historic Preservation Office of Michigan

The Michigan SHPO works with property owners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to identify, designate and protect Michiganís historic and archaeological sites, cultural landscapes, and community character. MiSHPO helps facilitate investment in historic buildings and districts, which are important parts of the stateís economic, cultural and social centers.

Conduct reviews of federally-funded undertakings. Assist in processing project information for review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended.† Serve as State Historic Preservation Office liaison to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority's city of Detroit and greater southeast Michigan office, as well as liaison to state of Michigan Prosperity Region Field Teams.† This position will be responsible for providing technical assistance related to the preservation of cultural resources in compliance with Section 106.

Possession of a master's degree in history, art history, museum studies, anthropology, American Studies, architectural history, historic preservation, or archival management required.
