JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in environmental services.
JOB DUTIES: Under close supervision, perform entry level work learning to conduct surveys and research on Federal-aid and State-aid transportation projects to identify and document historic resources which are eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, to compare alternates, to assess effects of the proposed transportation projects to those resources, to prepare documentation concerning such resources and effects to them in accordance with various State and Federal environmental laws and regulations, and to complete mitigation of adversely affected resources. Serve as a liaison between the Georgia Department of Transportation and other State and Federal agencies and private parties concerned with historic resources of the state.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Architectural History, Architecture or Historic Architecture, Historic preservation, or a closely related field in accordance with the Secretary of Interior Standards with requisite experience (i.e. experience in fieldwork (survey) and resource identification)
Possesses basic knowledge of the identification, evaluation, and management of historic resources
Possesses familiarity with related legislation such as the National Historic Preservation Act (knowledge in this area is typically obtained through a bachelor's and/or master's degree in history, historical preservation, or a closely related field.)
Ability to comprehend laws, policies, rules and regulations related to historic preservation
Committed to providing quality customer service
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
Ability to use correct grammar and spelling to communicate facts and messages in a clear and organized manner
Ability to adapt quickly to change including new policies/procedures
Ability to manage own time effectively
Ability to effectively apply new knowledge and skills in work performed
Ability to accurately recall instructional information
Displays a high level of commitment toward work and a high standard of ethical conduct
AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Architectural History, Architecture or Historic Architecture, Historic preservation, or a closely related field in accordance with the Secretary of Interior Standards with requisite experience (i.e. experience in fieldwork (survey) and resource identification)
Demonstrated architectural field survey experience such as but not limited to large scale surveys of corridors, cities, or municipalities.
Possesses familiarity with the Georgia Environmental Policy Act and the National Environmental Policy Act, and section 4(f) of the US DOT Act
Experience reading and understanding plans, maps, and/or aerial photographs
Possesses familiarity with word processing applications
Possesses the ability to develop solutions to moderately complex problems

Effectively interacts with co-workers to achieve goals
