The Landmark Society of Western New York based in Rochester, NY one of Northeast's oldest and most active regional historic preservation organizations seeks a Public Engagement Coordinator (25 hours / week, $13 / hour), to join our team no later than mid-January 2019.

This person will:

-          - engender broad interest and engagement with our preservation work and activities by managing and regularly updating our organizations digital media, including social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and our Wordpress-based website, which is currently in the final stages of a redesign.

-         -  cultivate enduring relationships with our most invested supporters by managing our membership program, including being the point of contact for members and maintaining and growing membership; being present at the majority of our large events (annual House & Garden Tour, Inside Downtown Tour, Ghost Walk, etc.) to interact with and excite current members and recruit new members will be helpful in fulfilling this responsibility.

-          - manage and deploy member / donor / mailing database to facilitate high-volume mailings and internal analysis

The person currently in this position, who will remain with the organization in a new role, will provide training, orientation, and guidance in the first few months, in hopes that the new hire will be able to operate near independently, and innovate, thereafter.

We are willing to consider candidates with a range of relevant backgrounds and experience, though experience with and/or interest in the preservation of the built environment would be a tremendous asset, and marketing experience, attention to detail, professionalism, sociability, ability to work independently, and creative drive to help our organization better engage a broad range of people in our preservation work are of paramount importance.

Hours can be flexible, and it is possible that some aspects of the job, namely managing digital media, may be done remotely, but physical presence amidst the team at our current office in Rochesters Corn Hill neighborhood, and our future office at Warner Castle in Rochesters Highland Park come Spring 2019, will be essential for the vast majority of the roles 25 hours / week. Specifically, we expect that at least 5 hours / week will be spent on growing our membership, and improving internal procedures to that end.
