  • Description:  Responsible for planning, implementing, and managing historic preservation projects within the three Mediterranean Network parks, in other park units, and for other agencies and partners.
  • Represents the network park Superintendent when working on historic preservation matters
  • Advises the network park Superintendents, Chiefs of Cultural Resources, and Facility Managers on the budget, manpower requirements, and formulation of annual plans of operation for each of the network parks.
  • Develops scopes of work and cost estimates; prepares compliance documents; tracks project budgets
  • Coordinates with a variety of personnel to plan, execute, manage and record historic preservation projects
  • Prepares contract packages and serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR)
  • Develops and manages the network preservation crew's budget, including annual and multi-year programs for the effective management of historic facilities
  • Exercises the full range of supervisory duties including recruitment and selection of employees, approving leave, setting performance standards and evaluates performance, identifying training needs, resolving complaints or grievances, and actively supports EEO programs.  Responsible for on-the-job safety and health of all employees supervised.
  • Qualifications:  At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: using applied preservation methods and historic construction practices, techniques, materials and architectural styles; recognizing and identifying the cause of deterioration of wood, stone, earth, metals, concrete, and other historic building materials and designing and applying preventative measures; acting as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for contracted historic preservation work; manage contracts, prepare cost estimates for projects, develop scopes of work, and final specifications for historic preservation work; applying cultural resources preservation legislation, policies, guidelines and standards; use of a wide variety of modern and historic tools and training and directing others in their use. You must include hours per week worked.
