New Hampshire Preservation Alliance seeks an intern to assist a historic preservation non-profit organization based in Concord, NH. The Preservation Alliances work is increasing investment in historic places, expanding knowledge of preservations benefits and practices, and providing leadership of, and support for, a growing movement.
This internship will provide practical experience in the field of historic preservation with an emphasis on:
· Monitoring and documentation of historic properties with preservation easements
· Development and execution of educational and promotional programs for property owners and general audiences
The intern will assist with easement monitoring visits, complete stewardship reports and work with program staff to develop and update outreach materials for other programs.
Schedule: The intern will work a flexible schedule agreed upon by the intern and the Preservation Alliance, comprising 35-40 hours a week over the course of 6-8 weeks, or part-time for a longer term. Work will be based at offices in Concord, NH but will include travel around the state.
Requirements: Applicants must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program for historic preservation or a closely aligned field. Candidates with similar experiences will also be considered.
The ideal candidate for this position will have an understanding of the history and features of older buildings, enthusiasm for historic preservation education and strong organizational and communication skills. The ability to work independently will be important although there will also be many opportunities to work with the Preservation Alliances small, energetic staff. Reliable transportation is required. Photography skills are needed. Housing is not provided as part of the internship.
$10.00/hour, average 38 hours for 6-8 weeks, or part-time for a longer term, plus mileage.
