Students will explore and document the middle Sweetwater Valley, a cultural landscape with sites ranging from prehistoric camps to Oregon Trail ruts and homesteads.

Location: Lander/Riverton area. This course will explore and document the middle Sweetwater Valley, a section of the Greater South Pass Historic Landscape with sites ranging from prehistoric camp sites to Oregon-California Trail ruts, 1860s Army posts and homesteads. Students will conduct historic and archeological field work and cultural landscape analysis in fulfillment of a contract with the National Park Service. Instructors: Mary Humstone, UW; Todd Guenther, Central Wyoming College. Transportation to and from Laramie and camping equipment/meals on site will be provided. Students must also register for ANTH2010 through Central Wyoming College (no additional tuition or fees).
