Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest announces its 2009 Restoration Field School. The intensive two week program will be held from May 24-June 6. The program provides an overview of the process and philosophy for museum-quality restoration and conservation. People from all types of experience and disciplines may qualify. The program is limited to 10-12 participants each year. Tuition $350. Application deadline: April 20.
Components include: the history of Thomas Jefferson and his villa retreat, the theory and practice of museum quality restoration, restoration documentation, fieldwork investigation and documentation, construction techniques, historic materials, masonry conservation, and historical interpretation.
