Who: The symposium will target subject matter experts, leaders and decision makers, such as: Planners, Architects, Preservation Organizations, Federal and Local Government Organizations, Developers and Green Building experts.

What: This is the fourth in a series of symposia and will explore:

  • Green Historic Preservation issues relevant to the West Coast as well as national successes and lessons.
  • The policy framework that communities need to promote and encourage data collection and other metrics for quantifying the value of building reuse.

Topics:

  • Metrics for Energy Efficiency
  • Programs, Tools, and Partnerships
  • Rating Systems
  • Policy Town Hall
  • High-Speed Rail and Transit-Oriented Development
  • Healthy, Equitable Homes
  • Economic Development

Why: Attendees will engage in facilitated dialog on key issues, incentives, challenges and policy changes needed to successfully green historic communities. EPA will use feedback from the symposium series to compile a final report of recommendations for federal and state agencies.
