After attending the inaugural Preservation South Conference hosted by the University of Georgia (UGA) last year, we at the University of Florida have agreed to hold the second annual conference in the Sunshine State! UGA started the Preservation South Conference with the intent of it being "by students, for students" and we are keeping this concept.
The conference will be held on and around the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida on February 15 and 16, 2013. The conference will include presentations from experts in the field of historic preservation and students with their own expertise in preservation. The conference will also include social activities, thesis Pecha Kucha, and many other fun preservation related activities! We are excited to announce that the overall theme will be preserving modernism!
Although this is the Preservation South Conference we encourage students from all over the nation in historic preservation and allied fields to attend. The mission of our student and alumni organization is to encourage interdisciplinary teamwork and provide networking opportunities. It is our hope that we can apply this to the conference and build a network of connections across the United States.
In the meantime, we would greatly appreciate it if you could reply if your students and/or student organizations are interested in attending.
