Heritage Conservation Network has changed its name to Adventures in Preservation, effective September 1, 2009. As AiP, the non-profit organization will offer the same high-quality, meaningful volunteer vacations they have offered since 2002, giving you the opportunity to work on historic buildings around the world. The new name is intended to highlight the participant experience, and to reflect the critical role that workshop participants play in each projects success. Adventures in Preservation invites you to make preservation your destination in 2010. Projects are scheduled in Kenya, the U.S., Armenia, Slovenia and Albania, where volunteers will work with members of the local community to preserve valuable architectural heritage. Each project is led by a technical expert who teaches and guides participants in their work, making these volunteer vacations a perfect way to learn new skills while experiencing a different culture. Learn more about how AiP harnesses the power of volunteers and the strengths of local communities by joining one of their hands-on projects. AiPs will launch their new website on November 1, but dont wait until then to decide on one of their adventure trips. Registration is already open for AiPs 2010 workshops, which begin in the World Heritage Site of Lamu, Kenya, where you can join other volunteers and help restore a coral rag building and contribute to community renewal. Space is limited, so register soon. For information on AiP and their exciting volunteer vacation opportunities, go to www.adventuresinpreservation.org. |
