Houston, a city known more for its demolition than for its preservation has recently added it's 20th historic district. The latest was Germantown Historic District, in the Heights.

The Heights is an inner residential area built mainly in the 1890's thru 1920's. It is an are very popular right now and leading the boom in home sales. The Heights has many individual subdivisions within it. It leads the city though in the number of historic districts. It has 7 of the 20 districts.
